The “Woman to Woman Outings” were designed for women who are interested in connecting with other women as a chance to attend and participate in fun, local, creative events and outings. Events will vary from spa trips, pottery or art studio workshops, film festival outings and museum tours, soup kitchen work and community service projects, urban gardening projects, food tours, tai chi or yoga classes, nature hikes, canoe or kayak trips, gallery tours, author lectures and book signings as well as other various outings.The group will meet at the Center for Creative Living: 2011 Crooks Road, Royal Oak, MI. 48073 (between 12 and 13 mile on the West side of Crooks Road) for group or individual transportation to the event unless otherwise noted.
Pre-registration is required and space is limited for each event. Registration is $40 per person per outing. Call 248-635-5285 to register or for more information.
September 24th, 2009: September 24th, 2009 Woman to Woman Outing Photos
Creative Arts Studio Pottery and Mosaic Tiling Workshop: Our first outing was a huge success!! Women enjoyed painting their own pottery project or creating house numbers out of mosaic tiles. The evening we selected happened to also fall on the Royal Oak Ladies Night where many local businesses were offering freebies including free chair massages and free samples of food and coffee. After our workshop, we all enjoyed wandering through downtown Royal Oak getting free chair massages and free chocolate treats!
October 22nd, 2009: Photos from Culinary Tour
Taste-full Tours: This outing will involve 4 stops on a culinary tour “around the world!” Each culinary stop will involve free samples and interesting information on products, menu items and a ‘behind the scenes’ look into the culinary world through the eyes of independent speciality shop and restaurant owners. The group will meet at the Center for Creative Living at 6:30 pm for group transportation from there to each culinary destination! Come hungry! We will have a lot to taste and try! Wednesday, December 16th, 2009: Angel Reading with Elaine Grohman
We will meet at Elaine’s home at 6:30 pm. When you register, Megan will provide address and driving directions. An Audience Angel Reading is an experience that opens your heart and your mind to another dimension. During an Audience Angel REading, Elaine Grohman, ATP, CHTP, APP (Angel Therapy Practitioner, Certified Healing Touch Practitioner and Assoc. Polarity Practitioner) gives messages of love and support to those in attendance. With the assistance of the Angels, Elaine provides insights about current life challenges, and how one might gracefully go through them and often, messages from deceased loved ones. Elaine will share her special gifts with us in the comfort of her beautiful home in Farmington Hills, MI. We will meet at her home at 6:30pm.
Wednesday,January 27th, 2010: Tai Chi and Chai Tea!
For this outing, we will meet at the Center for Creative Living, 2011 Crooks Rd., Royal Oak at 6:30 pm. From there we will go to a local Royal Oak based Tai Chi beginners class. After our class, we will cozy up at Goldfish Tea in downtown Royal Oak for Tea Tasting and treats. Jim and Janice, Goldfish Tea owners will share their knowledge and passion for tea as they lead us through the in’s and out’s of tea - including the relaxing properties and health benefits! We will also enjoy bite size treats and sweets with our tea tasting. If you’ve never been to Goldfish Tea - you won’t want to miss this outing! A real Royal Oak hidden treasure!
Saturday, February 13, 2010: Soup Kitchen Community Service Project.
We will meet at the First Baptist Church on Main Street (309 N. Main Street) in Downtown Royal Oak at 10:30 am to assemble and serve lunch for 70-80 area homeless at 11:30 am. What a better gift for the winter season than to reach out and help others. It’s our responsibility to prepare the menu and meal ahead of time. The $40 per person fee for this outing will help cover the cost for the meal as well as other items we can pass out to the homeless that day - such as warm hats and gloves.
Wednesday, March 10, 2010: GO FISH! Cooking Class at Pronto’s Commissary Kitchen.
We will meet promptly at 6:15pm at the Commissary Kitchen located at 4343 Normandy Court, Royal Oak. The class begins at 6:30 pm. This is a “Food Network” style show - where we watch a chef prepare various fish dishes and have an opportunity for tastings. Turn up the volume on fish dishes with techniques only a chef would know! Learn tips of the trade and ways to make healthy, tasty fish dishes in your home!
